Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a generic term used for self hypnosis in childbirth. This is a form of deep relaxation and is only one of the many tools the Positive Birth Program provides you with. By using hypnotherapy techniques it can help you release any fear towards birth, and assist in the natural release of endorphins and other hormones during your pregnancy, labour and birth.

When should I book in?

We recommend booking in for classes between 20-34weeks gestation, giving you plenty of time to practice and prepare, using the tools and knowledge we provide you with in the classes

Who do I bring with me to the classes?

We recommend that your birthing support partner join you at the classes. It can be very informative and provide them with the best knowledge and tools to support you and be your advocate during your birth. Your birth partner will be able to practice the tools with you leading up to your birth so you are both well prepared.

What if I have cesarean?

The tools you learn in the program can assist you in a positive calm birth environment even if you have a cesarean. You can use the relaxation and calming techniques, and many of the other tools provided before and during your cesarean. The “Change of Circumstances” online course is available through Hypnobirthing Australia™ here

How do I explain the course to my Partner, he is a bit unsure?

Giving birth is a huge life event you want to be well prepared for. If you were to run a marathon, would you simply turn up on the day and complete the marathon without any prior training? No, you would train regularly leading up to the event to prepare your body and mind. The Positive Birth Program does the same for childbirth. It provides you with evidence-based knowledge and tools to prepare your body and mind for the birth of your child. It will get you game day ready!
